When I heard that NARS was doing a cream foundation I knew I had to have it. The NARS shade Siberia has consistently been the only foundation to perfectly match my incredibly pale and “not really cool yet not really warm” skin tone. However I found that while Sheer Glow had an amazingly beautiful finish, it did not fully cover my redness and could cling to any dry skin flakes. So, a medium coverage cream foundation seems like it would solve both these problems. But does it??
First of all the foundation compact ($38) is sold separately from the refillable compact ($10). This makes for a pretty pricey foundation but I like idea of keeping the same compact and refilling it. Although, I doubt I will refill it since I have serious foundation ADD and can’t stick with just one for any time at all.
The coverage is a build-able medium to almost full coverage. It certainly covers more than the Sheer Glow foundation. However it melts into the skin and never looks cakey or powdery.
What about color? I find that the shade Siberia suits me as usual (if not a smidge pale for my imperceptibly tanned summer skin). This might sound odd but I swear there’s more pink in this foundation than in the Sheer Glow. Anybody else find this to be true?
In terms of longevity I found this foundation to be incredibly long lasting. It kept on through an 8 hour workday and in fact I think looks best after it’s been left to settle into the skin for about 15 minutes.
So what’s my verdict? It’s definitely a solid high quality foundation. It will cover any imperfection, it lasts all day, has a nice satin finish and a great shade range. But…. I just don’t get that magical feeling I get from other foundations. You know when you feel your skin glow and look glamourous and healthy?? Maybe I’m crazy but this foundation just doesn’t have that rush of passion I get for other foundations but it is still a great foundation. Guess the Radiant Cream foundation has been makeup friend-zonedif you will.
